- RP School

More than Three decades of dedication, perseverance and commitment to shaping the future of children across the Valley.

RP School began with a simple yet enduring belief: that the children of Kashmir deserve an education rooted in knowledge, care and strong moral values. This page offers a glimpse into our journey, our history and the principles that have shaped us—and continue to guide us in nurturing not only capable minds, but good human beings.

Our Purpose

What we try to stand for.

Our Mission

Our Mission

RP stands for Radiant Public School. Its mission, as the name indicates, is to disseminate the radiance of knowledge to the people of the Valley and the rest of the world.

The first Aayat which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAL is (IQRA) which means "to read". Prophet Muhammad SAL is reported to have said: “Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim, male or female”.

We are fully committed to providing children, irrespective of religion, creed, caste and gender, the best opportunity to receive balanced education.

By balanced education we mean the education which cements our relation with Allah Ta'aala, the Sustainer and the Creator of this cosmos and whatever is in it, and to acquaint the students with basic human values and manners.

Our Vision

Our Vision

Our main aim and objective is to see our students growing into virtuous and responsible citizens, who will serve the society.

They should understand what the purpose of life is and why they have been created and sent down on to this planet.

We wish to see our students in every sphere of life, whether Education, Medicine, Civil Services, Engineers, Entrepreneurs and so on.

They should be able to compete with other international students and at the same time be grounded in their faith and culture.

Your cooperation and complete trust in the school management can transfer this dream into reality, Insha Allah.

Our Values

Five things we try to hold to.

Integrity

We try to be honest in what we say, fair in what we do, and true to our word.

Discipline

We try to cultivate self-discipline, responsibility and respect for what we commit ourselves to.

Respect

We try to listen with patience, speak with kindness and treat every person with dignity.

Curiosity

We try to welcome questions, encourage exploration and remain open to learning.

Community

We recognise that our work depends on the trust, support and goodwill of the community we serve.

Our History

Thirty-five years, briefly.

A journey of dedication, growth and commitment to education across the Valley.

If we glance at the Kashmir Valley in 1990, we would find that it underwent a difficult phase of chaos, confusion and depression. The education system was badly hit, and in the midst of these unfavourable circumstances, RP School started its voyage in the ocean of education.

Having deep faith in Almighty Allah, we took up the challenge and established Al-Huda Public School, which was later named as Radiant Public School. It was started by the descendants of Abdul Salam Mir, who was the husband of Zainab. She was the woman whose spiritual guidance enabled us to start this venture.

Praise to Almighty Allah, the school is standing among the top ten schools of the Valley.

1990

Founded

Opened with 60 students and five teachers in a rented building near Mala Bagh, Srinagar.

1995

Growing with the Community

What began with a small team grew into a dedicated staff of more than 25, nurturing the learning and growth of over 300 students in our co-educational campus.

2000

Our Own Campus

Responding to growing demand and limited space, we established our dedicated Boys’ Wing at Alamdar Colony, marking an important step in the school’s journey.

2006

Expanding Our Campus

In 2006, we expanded our main building to create dedicated spaces for a Science Lab, Computer Lab, Library and Auditorium, strengthening the facilities that supported both academic and co-curricular learning.

2010–2023

Continued academic growth brought outstanding Board results, with our students securing places among the Top 10 schools in the Board examinations, including First Position, reflecting our sustained commitment to academic excellence.

“

In 1990, I started RP School with sixty students and a simple belief—that the children of Kashmir deserved an education that combined knowledge with discipline, care and character.

We have always believed that knowledge is one. Islamic Studies, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Computer Science and languages such as Arabic, Urdu, English and Kashmiri are not separate worlds, but different ways of understanding ourselves, our world and the creation of our Creator.

Thirty-five years later, I remain grateful to the families who trusted us, the teachers who built with us, and the generations of students who gave life to our classrooms.

Our progress and results encourage us, but we never believe that we have reached the top. There must always be room to learn, improve and do better.

“

Being part of RP School is a responsibility I take seriously. This is a school that was built over many years through the hard work of its teachers, the trust of its families and, above all, a belief in the potential of children.

My role is to take that work forward—to improve what we already do well and to bring in what our children need for the future. This means better learning spaces, good teacher training, the thoughtful use of technology and opportunities that help our students grow beyond the classroom.

At the same time, I believe we should grow carefully. A bigger school is not necessarily a better school. Whatever we add—whether a new class, laboratory, facility or programme—should have a clear purpose and should genuinely benefit our children.

My hope is simple: that RP School continues to grow, without losing the values and personal care with which it began.

At RP School, we believe that true education is not just about academic excellence, but also about building strong values, character and compassion. We bring learning beyond the classroom by connecting knowledge with experience and life skills. Our aim is to help every child grow into a confident, capable and thoughtful individual who understands the value of kindness, integrity and responsibility. We nurture young minds and caring hearts, preparing our students not just to succeed in life, but to make a meaningful difference in the world around them.

Campus Philosophy

A few ways our beliefs shape the campus.

01

Rooted in Values, Ready for the World

Our campus is designed to create an environment where students remain deeply rooted in morals, values and culture, while developing the knowledge, confidence and skills to engage with the wider world.

02

Curiosity & Creativity

Our campus gives children the space to question, explore and create—turning everyday learning into opportunities to discover, experiment and imagine.

03

Shared Responsibility

Our campus is a shared space, where parents, teachers and the wider community come together to support every child. We believe that a child’s growth is a collective responsibility, built on trust, communication and shared care.
